Nee Mayeyolago ninnolu mayeyo -- A song with many dimensions

Kanakadasa's lyrics mixed with Sri Vidyabhushana's voice is perceived by my ears for seventh time today. As I write this blog, the magical composition continues to vibrate in my ears.

As always, I was overwhelmed with what I instantly thought about this song and with all my perceptions put across I shared the song with my friends. This is what my message read along with link to the song.

I once again say with confidence that we knew science.... Just listen to above song written by kanakadasa...... He was not even educated in any of universities.... Yet this composition puts everything together, big-bang, black holes, infinity, space time..... Theory of relativity.... Just listen with attention, you will know

All my friends liked the song but many also expressed a doubt if this song was speaking about all those things I listed. That is what brought me to blogging after 7 years!

Let me put my disclaimer right. I do not intend to argue that kanakadasa tried to explain all those theories (He may or may not have intended and I don't know about it). But I still say that the concepts fit in really well. As always dasa kirtanas are multidimensional and this is my hypothesis.

Lets examine the Pallavi of the song (You can listen to the song here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XDTdtNKeDo&feature=youtu.be.)

Nee Mayeyolago Ninnolu Mayeyo...

When will such situation occur in science? Its when physics fail, where does physics fail? In a black hole? If you are cant explain of what is made of what, you are at a point where physics breaks down. Its a common belief that black holes are miniaturized representation of whole universe before it was born. That is when laws of physics had no meaning. Space time did not exist. So its a state before materialistic existence and then you ask "What is inside what"? In a bhakti perspective, kanakadasa was trying to tell the multidimensional nature of supreme lord.

Lets look further to lines especially in first Charana....

Bayalu Aalayadolago... Aalayavu Bayalolago....

Remember what special theory of relativity says? (Small recap at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgH9KXEQ0YU). While the theory is about time, space has posed an equally cryptic challenge to understand. So here I see Kanakadasa's words puts relativity wrt space. Everything depends on point of origin. If you are inside a temple, there is space inside temple and if you are outside a temple there is a temple in space! So there is no absolute nature of temple, its relative! That's easiest way to explain theory of relativity.

Second charana is more interesting...

Saviyu Sakkareyolago... Sakkareyu Saviyolago.... Saviyu sakkareyeradu Jihve(Taste buds)olago... Jihve manasina olago, manasu jihveya olago... Jihve manasugaleradu ninnolago.....

So your starting point is sugar. When you put sugar in your mouth, there is sweet, where was this sweet? in the sugar? Now, after the sugar is dissolved, you still see the sweetness now where is the sugar? In the sweetness? Where are both of them? In taste buds? Whats in taste buds? Cells? Whats in cells? Atoms? Whats in atoms? you can keep breaking it down and each time science has found a symmetry. Remember the million dollar cauldron built to find higgs bosson? While the science is after finding the physical evidence of indivisible truth, Bhakti theories simply understand it to be the unreachable supreme Brahman or what we all mathematically know as infinity. It goes beyond materialistic laws goes to manas. Infinity exists but it doesn't, so in this charana, Kanakadasa concludes saying those that exist and that doesn't exist are in you. As great Ramanujam said, if you understand infinity, you understand god.

The same extends to third charana with example of flower and fragrance..... (Kusumadali Gandhavo, Gandhadali Kusumavo...). And finally Kanakadasa concludes it saying usuralenalavalla yella ninnolago. I can't understand but one thing is sure, everything came from you. If anyone reading still think that Edwin Hubble figured out possibility of a big bang, I suggest you take a look at Purusha Sukta of Rig Veda.... As Edwin Hubble talks about infinitely dense matter as source of universe, RigVeda says Purusha or the supreme is the source. So Kanakadasa is pointing out that the whole universe has its existence from same source Krishna or supreme lord! That's where I see a big bang theory in the song.

So, am happy with my hypothesis. Neither I know what was going on in Kanakadasa's mind when he composed it nor I intend to know what's going on in readers mind. All I know is the song is a bliss irrespective of your perception.

Thank you so much for this wonderful explanation. I have always been fascinated with this Kanaka Dasara pada. I have grown up listening to my late mother and aunt, Bellur Sisters singing this pada. You may listen to it here https://youtu.be/7bRbqQcxXHA?si=QRb3dlGzZua8xv4K
Namaskaara 🙏🏽
